The managing director and chief executive officer, MD/CEO, Rural Electrification Agency, REA, Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad, has hinted that the agency is shifting focus from sole deployment of renewable technologies to power off-grid communities to a 2nd layer of impact by catalyzing the productive use ecosystem for socioeconomic development.
In a post on the agency’s Twitter handle on Wednesday, Ahmad was commending the vegetable harvest from the innovative greenhouse powered through the REANigeria’s 100kWp solar hybrid mini-grid in Kebbi State.
He said, “As REA continues to strengthen its productive use models, we see opportunities and possibilities to energise agriculture using renewables.
More and more, REA, through the guidance of the Federal Ministry of Power, is shifting focus from sole deployment of renewable technologies to power off-grid communities to focusing on a 2nd layer of impact: catalyzing the productive use ecosystem for socioeconomic development.
“With the availability of clean, sustainable energy in previously unserved and underserved communities lies possibilities for transformative change and opportunities to power commerce, agriculture, healthcare, education and, ultimately, lives.
“Kudos to @nayotroptech for working with us to explore these possibilities and ensuring the success of this project.”
