The Federal Government under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinibu, has been called upon to redouble efforts to end starvation, hunger, insecurity, terrorism, armed banditry and kidnapping in the land.
The Director Connectional Ministries, United Methodist Church (UMC) Rev. Philip Micah Dopah made the call during the First Quarter Combined Service of TEKAN/ECWA, Taraba State chapter held at the CAN Secretariat, Jalingo.
“While we appreciate the Federal Government for measures put in place to end starvation and hunger in the land, there is still high cost of living in the land.”
Rev. Dopah commended Governor Agbu Kefas for releasing N1bn to wipe out tears of Retirees, Pensioners and those that are yet to get their gratuities since 2011 to date.
“May the Almighty God give our Governor Agbu Kefas the grace to keep and fulfill all his campaign promises to the people. We are really happy about the good development.
“We also want to commend the Governor for tackling the security situation in Yorro community and other parts of the state.”
He appealed to Governor to extend his educational policy to private institutions in the state, especially those ones that were established to compliment government efforts.
“We also want to commend Governor Agbu Kefas for putting in place a powerful committee full of technocrats and experienced people to provide food security and to end hunger in the land.
In his remark, Governor Agbu Kefas represented by the Secretary to the Government of the state, Barrister Gibon Timothy Kataps said that the state government is putting all things together for the welfare of it’s citizens.
He said that the state have been under attack in the past, but that with the timely response of Governor Agbu Kefas, the situation has been brought under control.
“Taraba State is set for business of Insecurity. Yorro and Zing now have peace. Soon people of those areas will go back to their farms.
He revealed that the state government has already purchased over one hundred thousand school materials which includes, uniforms, sets of computers amongst others to be distributed to schools for the free education system in the state.
According to him, the current administration is replicating system of the past, were pupils and students are giving materials free of charge.
He further reveal that the state government is putting in place measures to boost the transport system by purchasing one thousand each of electric solar Keke Napep, Busses and Cars to reduce the transportion cost for the people.
In his message, the guest speaker, Rev. Mathias Katfung spoke on the topic, “Occupy Till I Come”, took his reading from the book of Luke 19:13,
According to him, God created man and put him in the garden and tell him to “Occupy Till I Come”.
