The Jos Wildlife Park has successfully recaptured the hyena that escaped from its enclosure days ago, bringing relief to residents who had been on high alert.
According to the park’s management, the hyena was found, tranquilized, and safely returned to its enclosure. While the exact timing of the escape and the location of the recapture were not disclosed, the General Manager of the Plateau State Tourism Corporation, Chuwang Pwajok, confirmed the successful capture.
“The relentless efforts of our team, coupled with the unwavering support of the public, led to this successful capture,” the management stated.
This incident is not the first of its kind at the park. In 2015, a lion escaped, and another lion broke free in July 2018.
The Plateau State Tourism Corporation has assured the public that enhanced measures are now in place to prevent future occurrences and ensure the continued safety of both the animals and the community.
Residents, who had been apprehensive since the news of the hyena’s escape broke on Monday, can now breathe a sigh of relief. The successful recapture of the hyena is a testament to the park’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of both its animals and the public.
