Motorists, commuters and residents have appealed to Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun to expedite work on the second phase of the Mowe-Ofada Road, saying its completion would improve road safety, reduce travel time and ease the daily hardship experienced by road users.

‎The residents said the unfinished section of the road had become a major source of concern, leading to persistent traffic congestion, frequent vehicle breakdowns and rising transport costs for commuters, businesses and workers in the area.

‎Speaking in separate interviews with journalists on Saturday, several road users commended the government for reconstructing the first section of the road but urged it to extend the project to the remaining stretch without delay.

‎Commercial driver Johnson Fadeyi said the poor condition of the road had reduced the number of trips drivers could make each day while increasing vehicle maintenance costs.

‎He noted that the situation becomes more difficult during the rainy season and appealed to the state government to urgently rehabilitate the damaged section.

‎A commuter, Bimpe Olaitan, also described the road as a major challenge for passengers, saying they endure long hours in traffic and uncomfortable journeys, particularly during peak periods and heavy rainfall.
‎
‎Transport operator Kadiri Bala said the deteriorating road had slowed the movement of goods and services, negatively affecting businesses in Mowe, Ofada and nearby communities.
‎
‎He urged the government to prioritise completion of the project, stressing that a better road network would enhance commercial activities and improve connectivity across the area.

‎Another resident, Sunday Famuyiwa, appealed to the relevant authorities to continue palliative repairs on the worst sections pending the completion of the reconstruction project.
‎
‎While expressing confidence in Governor Abiodun’s commitment to infrastructure development, he called for quicker intervention to complete the entire road.
‎
‎According to him, finishing the second phase of the Mowe-Ofada Road would improve transportation, stimulate economic activities and enhance the living conditions of thousands of residents who rely on the route daily.
