Reports that football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and his fiancée, Georgina Rodriguez, are set to tie the knot on August 8, 2026, have generated widespread reactions on social media.
The Al-Nassr forward is reportedly expected to marry Rodriguez, the mother of his children, in a ceremony believed to be taking place at the historic Funchal Cathedral on Madeira Island, Portugal — the city where Ronaldo was born and began his football journey.
According to The Sun, the wedding celebration will continue with a grand reception at the luxurious five-star Savoy Palace Hotel in Funchal, the island’s capital.
However, the couple has not officially confirmed the date or venue of the ceremony. Speculation grew after images circulated online showing Ronaldo, 41, and Georgina, 32, displaying their engagement rings.
Additional viral photos reportedly showed the couple alongside several high-profile personalities, including Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal, and American streamer IShowSpeed.
The wedding rumours gained further attention after reports emerged that guests at the Savoy Palace Hotel were informed that parts of the facility, including two floors and some bar areas, would be unavailable on Friday and Saturday due to a private function.
Portuguese media had earlier suggested that the pair planned to get married after the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with Madeira reportedly chosen as the location.
Ronaldo and Georgina, who has Spanish-Argentine heritage, have been together since 2016 and currently share responsibility for raising five children. In August 2025, Georgina confirmed their engagement by sharing a picture of herself wearing a diamond ring.
