Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has said candidates of the All Progressives Congress for the Lagos State House of Assembly have committed to deepening grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Sanwo-Olu made the disclosure on Saturday after leading the party’s 40 Assembly flag bearers, alongside the deputy governor and other party leaders, on a Sallah homage visit to President Bola Tinubu at his Lagos residence.
The governor explained that the visit provided an opportunity for the candidates to engage directly with President Bola Tinubu, who offered guidance on leadership, party loyalty, and public service.
According to him, the President urged the candidates to remain focused on delivering democratic dividends and maintaining close ties with their constituents.
Sanwo-Olu noted that the Assembly hopefuls appreciated Tinubu’s leadership and pledged to promote the achievements of both the federal and state governments.
He added that the candidates also assured the President of their readiness to work actively within their constituencies to sustain support for the APC.
The governor further said the candidates were advised to promote unity within the party at the grassroots level and reach out to all stakeholders, including political opponents from the primaries.
He stressed that despite the APC’s strong presence in Lagos, the party would not become complacent, warning that electoral success requires continuous engagement with voters.
Sanwo-Olu also disclosed that the party would support its candidates with necessary structures, data, and resources to strengthen their campaigns across the state.
He expressed confidence that the flag bearers would effectively communicate the party’s message and consolidate its support base ahead of the elections.
