In a significant step toward enhancing military collaboration, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Defence, Prince Khalid Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz, met with Turkish Defence Minister Yasar Guler in Riyadh on Tuesday.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in defence and security.
Both parties explored avenues for collaboration in areas such as military training, defence manufacturing, and expertise exchange. They also addressed regional and global security issues, aiming to enhance stability in the region.
The meeting, attended by senior military officials from both countries, comes at a time when Saudi-Turkish relations have been improving across various sectors, particularly in defence.
This development follows reports from Bloomberg in January, suggesting that Turkiye is seeking to finalise a $6 billion defence deal with Saudi Arabia. The agreement, which could be the largest in Turkish military history, includes the sale of warships, tanks, and missile systems. The deal is expected to be sealed during Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s upcoming visit to the kingdom.
This growing defence partnership marks a new era of cooperation between the two nations, boosting military capabilities and fostering regional security.
