The Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has visited former Kogi State Deputy Governor, Dr. Philip Salawu, to commiserate with him over the passing of his mother, Mrs. Alice Salawu.
Mrs. Salawu, who died on June 9 at the age of 107, was described as a respected matriarch whose life attracted tributes from family members, associates, and community leaders.
The visit was confirmed in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by the senator’s media aide, Mike Idoko.
During the condolence visit, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan expressed sadness over the death of the centenarian, extending her sympathies to the Salawu family and their wider community.
She described the late Mrs. Salawu as a woman of remarkable strength, grace, and wisdom, noting that her long life was a reflection of divine favour and a legacy worth celebrating.
According to her, although the loss of a mother remains deeply painful, the family could take comfort in the impactful and fulfilled life the deceased lived.
She added that Mrs. Salawu’s values and character would continue to live on through her children, grandchildren, and generations she influenced during her lifetime.
The senator also prayed for God to grant the bereaved family comfort, strength, and peace as they mourn the loss.
