Colombian music star Shakira, Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Burna Boy and Uganda’s renowned Ghetto Kids have begun rehearsals for their performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup final halftime show.
Clips shared across social media captured the artistes practising dance routines alongside members of the Ghetto Kids, building anticipation for the entertainment spectacle that will accompany the tournament’s finale.
The show will make history as FIFA stages its first Super Bowl-inspired halftime performance during a World Cup final. The final match, which will see Spain face Argentina, is scheduled for July 19 at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, United States.
Shakira and Burna Boy recently collaborated on “Dai Dai,” the tournament’s official theme song. According to FIFA, proceeds from the track will be directed to its Global Citizen Education Fund, an initiative targeting $100 million by the end of the competition to expand access to education and football opportunities for children worldwide.
The Ghetto Kids, a dance group made up of orphaned and vulnerable children from Kampala’s Katwe community, rose to global fame through their energetic performances and appearances on international talent shows. They were invited by Shakira to participate in the halftime show.
With football, music and dance coming together on one stage, the performance is expected to be one of the highlights of the World Cup final, which will be watched by millions of fans across the globe.
