Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has called on women coordinators of the City Boy Movement in the state to step up mobilisation efforts in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second term bid.
Soludo made the appeal on Monday during an interactive session with the group at the Light House in Awka, where he stressed the need for stronger organisation, clearer strategy and deeper political engagement ahead of future elections.
The governor urged members of the group to operate with a better understanding of their coordinating role, warning that electoral participation must be guided by strategy rather than sentiment.
He also emphasised that women and youths remain critical to driving development not only in Anambra State but across Nigeria, adding that their political participation should translate into meaningful bargaining power.
According to him, future elections should be approached with greater political awareness, noting that votes should be used as leverage to secure better governance outcomes.
Soludo further encouraged the coordinators to be intentional about shaping their political future, describing his engagement with them as part of a broader effort to reorient society toward productivity and development.
He said political actors must learn to negotiate effectively within democratic systems, where outcomes are often determined by strategy and coalition-building rather than entitlement.
The governor also referenced the last general election, noting that President Tinubu achieved victory without significant support from the South-East, and urged the group to work towards stronger mobilisation ahead of the next election cycle.
He assured the women coordinators of his support, pledging to back their initiatives aimed at strengthening political participation and grassroots engagement.
Speaking earlier, the Anambra State Women Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, Mrs Adaora Soludo, said the group’s objective is to promote and sustain support for the Tinubu administration.
She added that the movement serves as a link between government policies and grassroots communities, helping to deepen awareness and acceptance of development programmes.
The meeting was attended by top state officials, including the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Chiamaka Nnake, and the Chairman of Idemili South Local Government Area, Mrs Amaka Obi, among others.
