A new registrar is now in charge at the Surveyors Council of Nigeria (SURCON). He is Surv. Olakunle Olumide Olugbemiro.
According to a statement made available to The SUMMIT POST News by the head, Press and Public Relations, Taiwo Hassan Akanbi,
on Monday, the
appointment was disclosed in a letter signed by the Surveyor General of the Federation (SGoF) Surv. Abuduganiyu Adebomehin.
In the letter tagged SS320/SI/V/845 and dated 10th January, 2024 the Surveyor General congratulated Surv. Olugbemiro on his appointment as Registrar for a first term of three years.
It reads in part: “I am pleased to convey to you, the approval of the permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Works of your appointment as the REGISTRAR, Surveyors Council of Nigeria (SURCON), with effect from date of this letter, for a term of three years, in the first instance, renewable for another three (3) years and no more upon your satisfactory performance.”
The appointment was made pursuant to the provisions of the Surveyors Council of Nigeria Act, S.18 LFN 2004.
Surv. Olugbemiro takes over from Surv. Kabir mohammed mamman who has successfully completed his second tenure as Registrar of the Council.
The new Registrar hails from Ondo Kingdom in Ondo State where he attended the prestigious Ondo Boys High School Ondo. He thereafter went for further studies at the Federal Polytechnic Ado Ekiti where he obtained a National Diploma (ND) in Land Surveying and later proceeded to the Federal School of Surveying, Oyo where he obtained a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Land Surveying and a Professional Diploma in Surveying and Geoinformatics. He also obtained a PostGraduate Diploma in Surveying and Geoinformatics from the University of Nigeria, UNN, Nsukka.
He has served at various levels of administration in SURCON before his appointment as Registrar. He was the Acting Registrar of Surveyors Council of Nigeria between February 2022 and January 2023. He is a passion driven and talented Professional with an array of experience in several aspects of Surveying and Administration who has actively mentored several young professionals and students in achieving their goals of becoming surveyors through Workshops, seminars and personal coaching.
