The Catholic Bishop of Ogoja Diocese, Most Revd. Donatus Akpan has admonished the federal lawmaker representing Cross River North in the Senate, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe to sustain his passion and commitment toward enhancing the well-being of his constituents.
Bishop Akpan stated this in his homely during a special Thanksgiving Mass at the instance Senator Jarigbe Jarigbe held at St. Benedict’s Cathedral Igoli in Ogoja to appreciate God for his electoral victory
According to Bishop Akpan,” God granted you victory at the polls because He has explicit confidence in you. He knows you will be real to your people by using your exalted privileged position to better their lots intentionally”
The clergy said he was impressed with the feedback from people of the area regarding the humane posture and unwavering efforts of Senator Jarigbe toward uplifting their living standard through meaningful projects and capacity building, urging him to sustain the tempo.
In his words” I have been hearing so much stories from your constituents about your exploits. I am impressed because you opted to be real to your people. I want you to continue to be real and selfless in your service to humanity. That is why God preferred you to your opponent. Don’t behave otherwise”
The Catholic Bishop who took his text from Acts 10 33 -38 averred that celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ entails rising above the ambit of hypocrisy, self-aggrandizement, and fraudulent living and implored Nigerians to pursue their daily bread legitimately as those with heavenly-focused.
In his remarks, the chief celebrant, Senator Jarigbe expressed appreciation to God for His mercies, benevolence, and grace upon him culminating in his victory at the polls.
He assured his constituents of his irrevocable resolve to attract more basic amenities to accelerate the socio-development of the area describing his past projects facilitated to his Constituency as “a tip of the iceberg”
The event was attended by members of the National and Assembly led by Senator Abba Morro, State lawmakers of PDP extraction, Ministers of State Petroleum, Obong Akparekpe, former Deputy Governor of Cross River state, Efiok Cobham Esq. and PDP chieftains under the leadership of Venatius Ikem, the state chairman of the PDP
