Jalingo, Taraba State, Nigeria – The newly elected chairmen of the sixteen local government areas of Taraba State have been sworn in during a ceremony held at the Gym Hall, Jolly Nyame Stadium, Jalingo.
Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas administered the oath of office to the chairmen, urging them to see their positions as a trust bestowed upon them with the responsibility of steering their communities towards progress and development.
In his remarks, Governor Kefas emphasized the pivotal role that the chairmen will play in implementing the five-finger agenda set forth by his administration. He called on them to lead with integrity and diligence, emphasizing that their two-year tenure is a valuable window of opportunity to make a significant impact.
The Governor encouraged the chairmen to embrace technology to enhance governance and leverage digital solutions for improved service delivery, data management, and communication with the public. He also advised them to collaborate with neighboring local government areas to foster unity and knowledge sharing in addressing regional challenges.
Governor Kefas further tasked the chairmen with investing in capacity building for their staff, ensuring that they have the necessary training and skills to contribute to the achievement of set goals. He also urged them to develop regularly updated contingent plans for disaster management.
Responding on behalf of the newly elected chairmen, Alhaji Aminu Hassan Jauro, Chairman of Jalingo Local Government Area, expressed their profound appreciation to Governor Kefas for his instrumental role in fostering a peaceful and successful Local Government Elections in the State.
Jauro assured the Governor of their readiness to serve, acknowledging the unwavering support and platform provided by the Governor, enabling them to emerge as Chairmen-Elect for the sixteen Local Government Councils.
He commended the Governor’s leadership and mentorship, emphasizing their commitment to serving the residents of their respective local governments with dedication and diligence.
Jauro extended their heartfelt gratitude to the entire PDP family and the stakeholders of their respective local governments for their invaluable roles throughout the election process. He also expressed their gratitude to supporters, associates, friends, and the entire populace of their respective Local Government Councils for their overwhelming support, commitment, and mobilization.
Justice Nuhu Adi of the state High Court administered the oath of office on the new Chairmen on behalf of the state Acting Chief Judge.
The ceremony was well attended by top government functionaries and well-wishers of the new Chairmen.
