According too a statement signed by Ndidi Mbah, General Manager, Public Affairs, TCN, the CEO described the achievement as evidence that collective effort is producing measurable improvements in system efficiency.

According to him, “This achievement reflects not only commitment to duty but also demonstrates that our collective efforts are yielding measurable improvements in system efficiency.”

He urged the team to consolidate on the gains by delivering tangible improvements in core operational and managerial performance, in key areas, including the elimination of every avoidable losses, strengthening maintenance culture and discipline, reducing outages, and aligning regional operations with management’s strategic direction to build a more robust transmission network.

Engr Abdulaziz also reaffirmed management’s commitment to continue to provide a conducive working environment.

He called on staff to approach the tasks ahead with renewed energy, shared purpose, and steadfast dedication to duty, noting that sustained progress requires both technical excellence and personal accountability.

Earlier in his welcome address, the ED TSP, Engr Ajiboye, stated that the meeting was convened to appraise company performance, identify operational challenges, and set strategic plans for the future.

He appealed to all general managers to redouble their efforts to ensure TCN continues to deliver on its mandate as the Transmission Service Provider.

The ED, TSP thanked participants for attending at short notice and pledged to resume regular sessions with participant on quarterly basis.

He urged focus on solutions rather than blame, emphasising collective effort to address systemic challenges and achieve meaningful outcomes for the organization

The Executive Director, Human Resources (HR) and Corporate Services, Mrs Abiodun Afolabi- Fadahunsi, emphasised the need to strengthen workforce readiness for TSP’s strategic delivery.

She noted the importance of rebalancing technical and non-technical staffing to better support TSP’s operational mandate and of addressing upcoming retirements in technical roles to sustain continuity and stability.

To close these gaps, she noted that HR is implementing targeted measures including workforce validation, enhanced technical staffing, structured induction and role-based training mostly for younger staff, and periodic retraining for experienced personnel.

These, she said, are designed to improve preparedness and support effective delivery of TSP’s strategic priorities.

Also speaking at the event, the ED, Finance & Accounts, Mr Chuks Ochijie appreciated staff for sustaining operations despite limited resources.

He noted that staff costs have risen substantially following the NISO unbundling, with more staff left with TCN, creating financial pressure as revenue inflow remains low relative to operational demands.

He acknowledged the challenges but urged continued resilience, expressing confidence that the situation will improve with sustained effort and commitment.

At the end of the two-day meeting, key resolutions were reached on the way forward and will be presented to the MD/CEO for implementation.

The outcome is expected to guide immediate operational adjustments and reinforce TCN’s commitment to a more efficient and resilient transmission network.
