The Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom have confirmed the arrest of three individuals in connection with the fatal stabbing of British-Nigerian singer Mark Orabiyi, also known as Talay Riley, in East London.
According to a statement released by the Metropolitan Police Service, the incident occurred on Friday at a property along Rayleigh Road, where officers responded to reports of a stabbing.
Police said emergency responders, alongside the London Ambulance Service, arrived at the scene and found the 35-year-old with multiple stab wounds in a garden area. Despite efforts to save him, he was confirmed dead at the scene.
While formal identification is still ongoing, authorities said the victim has been named as Orabiyi. His family has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers.
In a tribute released through the police, the family described him as a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend who brought joy and positivity to those around him. They praised his character and talent, saying his memory would remain with them forever.
Investigators disclosed that three suspects were arrested on suspicion of murder on Friday. The group includes two men and a woman.
Police further stated that a 27-year-old man has been granted bail pending further investigation, while a 24-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were released with no further action after questioning.
A separate 20-year-old individual was also taken to hospital with multiple stab wounds, which were described as non-life-threatening.
Leading the investigation, Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke described the case as tragic and appealed to members of the public for information.
She urged anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident, particularly those with CCTV or mobile footage, to assist the ongoing investigation.
“The investigation is progressing rapidly, and we are keen to hear from anyone who may have relevant information or footage from the morning of the incident,” she said.
