The Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, says the President is deeply concerned over the abduction of teachers and pupils in Oyo State and has directed intensified efforts to secure their safe rescue.
Gbajabiamila made this known on Sunday during a Federal Government visit to Ogbomoso in Oyo State, where officials met with families and community leaders of victims abducted from Community Grammar School, Baptist Nursery and Primary School, and L.A. Primary School on May 15, 2026.
According to him, the Presidency is fully committed to ensuring the safe return of all abducted victims.
“President Tinubu is deeply troubled by this incident. Whatever it takes, the children and teachers will be brought back home safely. He has issued all necessary directives and is providing full support to security agencies to achieve this,” Gbajabiamila said, as contained in a statement by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga.
He further assured the affected families that the government understands their pain and is working with urgency to resolve the situation.
“Your anxiety and pain are fully understood. By the grace of God, your children will return safely to your arms,” he added.
The Chief of Staff also noted that rescue operations would be carefully coordinated and intelligence-driven, combining both kinetic and non-kinetic strategies to ensure the victims are recovered unharmed.
He explained that President Tinubu has already approved the recruitment of 1,000 forest guards as part of broader security measures following the incident, which has triggered nationwide concern.
Members of the Federal Government delegation included the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa; Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu; Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe; and Senior Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, among others.
