The national coordinator of National Movement for Good Leadership, Hon Umar Abutu has urged Nigerians to rally round the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential flagbearer, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking to newsmen in an interview, in Abuja this weekend, Abutu explained that, Tinubu was one of the arrowhead of the Pro-democracy group, National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), an organisation that brought untold pressure on the ruling military to return the country to democratic rule in the 90’s.
“He (Tinubu) could have paid supreme price like Pa Alfred Rewane, Alhaja Kudirat Abiola, attempted murder of Pa Abraham Adesanya etc. The situation became so bad that, many of them fled to exile to escape been killed.
“It’s on record that Asiwaju was on hand to carter for the welfare of NADECO members, who could no longer fend for themselves in exile. He rallied the support of the international community for Nigeria’s agitation for a return to democracy.
“This is too huge a sacrifice to be wished away. Hence, it’s only fair that the Tinubu be supported by all and sundry to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari, come May 29, 2023.”
Abutu stressed that the forgoing is besides the 37 reasons why Tinubu is best to be Nigeria’s President at this time as enumerated by the National Movement for Good Leadership in it’s brochure.
“Look, we are saying that this man (Tinubu) is a born problem solver. He’s a congenital mobiliser of material, men and resources towards solving problems. Given his loud track records, it’s only sensible to give him this one in a lifetime opportunity to fix this country he love and has sacrificed so much for!”
He retrated that at the root of the security challenges facing Nigeria is economic deprivation. Havent come to this conclusion and taking into cognisance, Tinubu’s acumen as an unrepentant wealth creator, dealing with the security complications facing our country will only be like a walk in the park.
“Our argument is simple, if economic pressure accounts for larger percentage of why we are facing security issues, if we elect a President in the person of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, easing the economic pressure on Nigerians won’t be much of a problem.
“The moment the economic fortunes of Nigerians starts brightening and more people, especially the youths belt are gainfully employed, they will naturally stay off crimes and criminality and peace will start returning to our country.”
Hon Umar Abutu urged party faithfuls to be on their toes as campaigns gets underway.
