Tinubu’s Wife Drums Up Support for Oyebanji, Donates N100m to Ekiti Women

Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has rallied support for Ekiti State Governor and APC governorship candidate, Biodun Oyebanji, ahead of the June 20 governorship election, while also announcing a ₦100m empowerment package for women in the state.

She made the appeal on Saturday during a women’s event held at the Ekitikete Pavilion in Ado Ekiti, where she appreciated residents for their support of the current administration and urged them to extend the same backing in the upcoming poll.

Tinubu, addressing the gathering, urged voters to support Oyebanji and his wife, describing their administration as one deserving of continuity.

She also disclosed a ₦100m empowerment initiative targeted at 2,000 women, explaining that each beneficiary would receive ₦50,000 to support small businesses.

According to her, the intervention is a grant and not a loan, aimed at strengthening women-owned enterprises across the state.

The First Lady also indicated plans to return to Ekiti State to campaign for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, expressing optimism about continued progress under his leadership.

Earlier in the visit, she commissioned an Information and Communication Technology Centre at Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, which was facilitated through the Renewed Hope Initiative.

The Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, also urged women in the state to continue supporting the ruling party at both state and federal levels.

Speaking on behalf of the governor’s family, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji thanked residents for their support and encouraged them to vote for continuity in the forthcoming election.

Governor Oyebanji, in his remarks, appreciated the First Lady’s visit and said federal support had contributed significantly to achievements recorded in his administration.

He assured that residents would reciprocate the support in future elections, including backing the President in 2027.
