A new analysis of Google search activity has identified the 20 word definitions Nigerians searched for the most between January and July 2026, highlighting growing interest in relationships, education, mental health and professional development.
The study, conducted by Unscrambler, examined Google Trends data for searches containing the term “definition” from January 1 to July 28, 2026. Search volume estimates were obtained using Ahrefs.
According to the findings, “love” topped the list with 61,800 monthly searches, followed by “biology” with 40,400 and “introvert” with 36,900.
Other frequently searched definitions included “narcissist” (36,000), “gaslighting” (35,300), “business” (34,500), “government” (34,400), “communication” (34,000), “clingy” (33,500), and “power” (33,400).
The report noted that Nigerians are increasingly searching for words that help them understand relationships, human behaviour, careers and society.
A spokesperson for Word Unscrambler said the findings reveal a strong desire among Nigerians to better understand both personal and professional issues.
According to the spokesperson, terms linked to relationships, mental wellbeing, education, workplace knowledge and society dominated search interest during the period.

The report suggests that Nigerians are turning to online searches not only for academic knowledge but also to better understand emotions, personality traits, mental health and everyday concepts.
