U.S. President Donald Trump has announced the cancellation of planned military strikes on Iran, citing progress in high-level diplomatic discussions with Tehran.
Trump disclosed on Thursday that negotiations with the Islamic Republic had advanced to the top tier of Iranian leadership, prompting the suspension of the proposed operation.
Donald Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform that the decision followed approval of talks by senior Iranian authorities.
“Given that discussions with the Islamic Republic of Iran have now reached the highest levels of its leadership and received approval, I have cancelled the planned strikes and bombings scheduled for this evening,” he stated.
He further indicated that arrangements for a potential agreement were underway, adding that details regarding the signing would be made public soon.
“The time and location for the signing will be announced shortly,” he added.
