Two herders, Abubakar Lawal, 18, and Ibrahim Abubakar, 20, on Monday appeared before the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan over the alleged theft of a cow valued at N700,000.
The defendants, both residents of Odirin village, Ido, Ibadan, were charged with two counts of conspiracy and stealing, to which they pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Insp Iyabo Oladoyin, told the court that the defendants, alongside others now at large, conspired and committed the offences on February 12 at about 5:00 a.m. in Kaguo village in the Ido area of Ibadan.
Ms Oladoyin alleged that the defendants stole a cow valued at N700,000 from the residence of one Yusuf Ibrahim.
She said the offences contravened Sections 390 and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The magistrate, T. G. Daodu, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N500,000 each, with one surety each in like sum.
She adjourned the case until March 16 for a hearing.
