The All Progressives Congress (APC) has set plans in motion to formally launch its National Campaign Council ahead of the Ekiti State governorship election, with Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, appointed as chairman of the body responsible for coordinating party mobilisation and campaign activities.
In a statement issued on Monday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, it was disclosed that the council will also be co-chaired by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, while Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele will serve as secretary.
The inauguration is scheduled to take place on Wednesday in Abuja, as the party intensifies preparations for the governorship poll fixed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for June 20, 2026.
According to the APC, the launch of the campaign council signals the beginning of a coordinated statewide mobilisation strategy aimed at securing victory in the upcoming election.
The statement added that the event will hold at the Kashim Shettima Hall, Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja, by 12 noon.
It further explained that the National Campaign Council will comprise serving and former governors, leaders of the National Assembly, and other senior figures within the party.
To ensure effective execution of its campaign strategy, the APC has also constituted several subcommittees covering key areas such as election planning and management, finance and resource mobilisation, grassroots engagement, logistics, protocol, media and publicity, security, women mobilisation, youth engagement, and secretariat operations.
The Ekiti governorship election remains one of the key political contests ahead of the 2026 electoral cycle, with parties already stepping up preparations across the state.
