A yellow weather warning for ice has been issued for parts of the UK, with temperatures expected to drop close to freezing overnight.
The affected regions include the East Midlands, North East England, North West England, and Yorkshire and Humber. The warning will be in place from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Thursday, with wintery showers increasing the risk of icy surfaces.
The sudden cold snap follows an unseasonably warm weekend when temperatures in the UK surpassed those in Madrid. However, forecasters now expect a return to unsettled conditions, with spells of rain and strong winds continuing through mid-March.
Despite the current chill, the Met Office suggests that dry and bright weather may return later in the month, offering a potential break from the unpredictable conditions.
