The United Methodist Church in Nigeria UMCN has express readiness to dig twenty motorized boreholes in the Church Communities in the second quarter of this year.
Bishop Ande Emmanuel of Nigeria Episcopal Area and the Mission Districts of Senegal and Cameroon disclose this at the 2026 Choral convention of the Southern Conference at the 42nd Annual Choral Convention held at UMCN Center of Grace Camp ground, Appawa Zing Road, Lau Local Government, Taraba state.
He call on members to summit water needs of their communities to the committee for action.
The Bishop further disclose that the United Methodist Church in Nigeria in collaboration with the African University, Zimbabwe, has secured slot for Youths wishing to go for Undergraduate program in the University.
“This slot have been allocated to Choir members whom are of ages between 18-35 years, willing to study their First Degree outside the country. This is giving to both female and male whom lack of sponsorship to further their First Degree Program and have passion to travel to Zimbabwe.
“Those interested should lock on the the University website and complete the Application Form and after that, the Church will facilitate the process.
“All is not free, candidates will be responsible for their air travel, while tuition fees from the beginning to the end of the program is taking care of by the Scholarship Program.
He use the medium to call on Choir members not to be discourage by the challenges facing them.
“Choir is a sacred work just like that of pastors, they are lifers.
According to him, the United Methodist Church in Nigeria has achieve one hundred percent Unity in all the Episcopal which has been lost for the past Twenty years.
“The United Methodist Church in Nigeria has recorded success both spiritual and physical, recovers what it lost in Twenty years. In First Quarter of this year, over one thousand people have become members of the United Methodist Church in Nigeria, over Two thousand people who left the United Methodist Church in Nigeria have come back. Another achievement is the victory in Court cases – he said.
The Guest Preacher, Rev. Hannatu Robinson, urge believers to prepare for the coming of Jesus Christ.
She took her Bible readings from the Books of John 14:3 and Math 24:24.
“Very soon Jesus Christ will be coming back. It will not be announce on Radio, Television, Social media or Newspapers.
“His coming has shown through signs of happenings like kidnappings, banditry, amongst others. The world is just a temporary place and when you die, your time has come – she said.
She pointed out that anybody living in sin, cannot expect the coming of Jesus Christ.
“Be committed to God’s work faithfully and urgent. Be intimated with God and repent any moment and time.
“You have to be patient and don’t be tired while waiting for the coming of Jesus Christ. You have to pray, for without prayers, you cannot wait for the coming of Jesus Christ. Don’t doubt the coming of Jesus Christ – she added.
She causion believers from indiscriminate dressing.
“Dressing tells who you are, either a Christian or not. Dress the way you are advised.
In his remarks, the Dean of Cabinet, Rev. Dr. Phillip Micah Dopah, appreciated the Choristers for their dedication towards serving the Lord through singing.
Earlier, the President, Choir Ministry, Southern Conference of the United Methodist Church, Elder Ezra Ranti, reminded members that Choir Ministry comes with responsibilities.
“As Choir Ministry, our roles in evangelism and the development of Choir has increased greatly and become sacrosanct, therefore our mode of serving the Lord with substance of our hands must change.
“I therefore challenge us to sit-up and do the needful.
He call on them to rally round and support the Ministry towards actualizing the dream of having her own vehicle through freewill donations or car presentation.
Elder Ezra Ranti made a passionate appeal to the Choir groups to understand that position should not necessarily matter as the competition does not likened to a world competition were everyone wants to emerge as a winner at all cost as there is”no victor, no vanquish”.
