Abuja – Veteran broadcaster, Reuben Okala, has been selected as the Interim National President of the International Institute of Journalism Alumni Association (IIJAA).
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Okala thanked the association for the confidence reposed in him, promising to surpass their expectations. “I am honored to be chosen as the interim president of IIJAA, and I assure you that I will work tirelessly to restore the institute to its former glory,” he said.

Dr. Okala’s selection marks a high point in his illustrious career, and his leadership is expected to take the association to greater heights.
The IIJAA is a prestigious organisation that brings together journalists and media professionals, who graduated from International Institute of Journalism. Dr. Okala’s appointment is seen as a boost to the organisation’s efforts to promote journalism excellence.

Patron of the association, Prof. Aku Amboson, charged the newly elected EXCO to be proactive and dedicated to their responsibilities. “The task ahead is challenging, but with commitment and teamwork, we can restore IIJ to its old glory,” Prof. Amboson said.
He urged the EXCO members to work collaboratively to address the challenges facing the association and to develop strategies to promote the interests of its members.

Gen. Secretary, Mr. Amadi Uyi – Treasurer, Princess Joy Idam – Legal Adviser, Mr. Felix Ojo – PRO, Ms. Charity Ikenwa O – Asst. PRO, Mahmud Abubakar – Welfare Officer, Ms. Rachel Tokura – Auditor, Ms. Comfort Chukwule – Financial Secretary, Prophet Anuoluwapo Samuel – Special Adviser, and Maj. Prof. Aku A. Amboson (rtd) – Patron.
The association is expected to play a significant role in promoting journalism excellence and supporting the professional development of its members.
With Dr. Okala at the helm, the IIJAA is poised to make a positive impact on the media landscape and to contribute to the growth and development of the journalism profession.
Reuben Okala is an award-winning journalist and veteran broadcaster with a successful career in Nigeria’s national television station, the Nigerian Television Authority that spanned 30 years.
