Whisky Mistress, an Abuja-based hospitality and nightlife brand, has commenced a structured recruitment exercise aimed at addressing unemployment, particularly among young Nigerians.

The initiative, according to a statement signed by the Chief Executive Officer and Founder, Adenike Isi Adeeko, is part of the organisation’s broader commitment to economic inclusion, skills development and job creation within the hospitality and creative sectors.

Adeeko said the decision to open vacancies was driven by the growing need to provide legitimate employment opportunities in an industry that plays a significant role in urban economic growth and youth engagement.

She noted that properly structured and regulated hospitality and nightlife businesses have the capacity to absorb a sizeable workforce while offering platforms for talent development and career progression.

The recruitment exercise, she explained, would cover several operational and performance-related roles essential to the organisation’s operations.

These include positions for waitresses, hostesses, mixologists and bar attendants, customer service representatives, content creators, dancers, DJs, and hypemen.

Adeeko stressed that the exercise was not merely about filling vacancies but about creating a professional work environment where employees are trained, supported and empowered to grow.

“Our organisation recognises the urgent challenge of unemployment in Nigeria and the social pressures it creates, especially for young people. This initiative is our modest contribution towards providing dignified work, building skills and promoting self-reliance,” she said.

She added that the company was committed to professional standards, workplace safety and respect for individual dignity across all roles.

According to her, successful applicants would be engaged under clear guidelines, with access to training and personal development opportunities to enhance their competence and confidence.

Adeeko also urged a shift in public perception of the hospitality and entertainment sector, describing it as a legitimate economic space capable of supporting livelihoods.

She called for stronger collaboration between private sector operators and relevant authorities to ensure responsible operations and meaningful contributions to job creation.

The company reaffirmed its commitment to operating responsibly, expressing optimism that sustained efforts would help ease unemployment pressures and provide young Nigerians with viable pathways to economic participation.
