Hon. Philip Agbese, the lawmaker representing Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency, has explained why the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State has endorsed Comrade Austin Agada and the entire party executive—from the state level down to local government and ward committees—for another term.
Speaking during a wedding reception in Abuja organized by the Benue APC family in honour of Engr. Gideon Unazi, the personal assistant to the Deputy Spokesman of the 10th House of Representatives, Agbese said the decision reflects the party’s commitment to rewarding loyalty, dedication, and proven performance.
The event saw a strong turnout of party members, including Hon. Terser Ugbor, representing Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency, alongside other dignitaries.
“Comrade Austin Agada and all the excos from state to ward levels have been re-adopted because our leader, Senator George Akume, believes in recognising hard work and merit,” Agbese stated.
He added, “We appreciate those who have invested effort and delivered tangible results for both the party and the people.”
Agbese highlighted Agada’s crucial role in the party’s success during the 2023 general elections.
“Austin Agada mobilised tirelessly across Benue, leading the party to victory despite numerous challenges. He didn’t just talk—he acted, and the results were clear. That is why we support him and the team he leads,” he said.
Looking ahead to upcoming elections, the lawmaker stressed the importance of continuity.
“To achieve an even greater victory for President Bola Tinubu in Benue, it is essential that the state executive committee under Agada’s leadership remains in place. Continuity ensures stability, experience brings better strategy, and proven merit fosters trust at the grassroots,” he noted.
Agbese described the adoption as consistent with the values championed by Senator Akume.
“Senator Akume has always emphasised that loyalty and performance deserve recognition. This decision is a reflection of that philosophy—rewarding those who serve selflessly while positioning the party for greater achievements,” he added.
He also reaffirmed Senator Akume’s leadership within the APC, describing him as a guiding force who has maintained the party’s strength and relevance in Benue.
When asked about the administration of Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, Agbese was candid.
“We have moved beyond Governor Alia’s performance issues, which have been a source of concern for Benue people. Our focus now is on supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We believe the people understand the broader interest,” he said.
Agbese added, “Through our work, we have shown that things can be done differently in Benue under Tinubu. The lawmakers from Benue remain key to ensuring his success in the state.”
