A married woman, mrs. Ramatu Abbas of Donga LGA in Taraba state has allegedly attacked a 17-year-old girl, identified as Iwasen Terhemba, with razor blade.
Source said that Mrs. Abbas alleged that the minor was having an affair with her husband.
According to local sources, Mr. Abbas, husband to the attacker had persistently advanced the teenage for relationship but the 17 year old declined, citing her age and his marital status.
Reports says the man’s wife (Ramatu), later became aware of the alleged advances and began issuing verbal threats against the girl. Concerned for her ward’s safety, the teenager’s guardian, Jemila Savalla Wanga, reportedly approached the woman to explain that her husband had been persistently harassing the minor and urged her to caution him.
Residents said Mrs. Abbas reportedly went to the girl’s house and attacked her with a razor blade, leaving injuries on her face.
They disclosed that the attacker allegedly warned the victim and her guardian against reporting the incident to the authorities, insisting that the matter should be “settled at home.”
The incident according to sources, has sparked outrage in the community, with residents calling for justice and protection for minors against abuse and violence.
Taraba state police command through the PPRO, Victor Mshelizah confirmed the incident.
Meanwhile, the Police authority in Donga local government said the attacker has been charged to magistrate court in Donga.
“Yes, the attacker is in our custody, and from our investigation, the little girl has nothing in common with Mr. Abbas. Infact, our findings reviewed that Abbas had even attempted to rep her sometime ago but she resisted.
“The little girl is innocent. We have charged the attacker, Mrs Ramatu Abbas to court. It’s not a matter to take to the headquarters, she will be prosecuted here.
“The victim is currently receiving medical care at a nearby clinic”. The DPO informed.
