Yusuf Buhari, son of former President Muhammadu Buhari, on Thursday announced his intention to contest the Daura/Sandamu/Mai’adua Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general election.
He will be running under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Yusuf made the declaration in Daura, Katsina State, while addressing party stakeholders and supporters. His announcement followed a visit to Governor Dikko Radda, during which he sought the governor’s backing.
“I am here to seek your support, and I assure you that if elected, I will do my best and will never disappoint you, God willing,” Yusuf said.
He added, “I thank all of you for your time, dedication and support.”
Speaking at the event, the Dan Madamin Daura and District Head of Dumurkol, Alhaji Musa Haro, called on those present to rally behind Yusuf.
“We are here to ask for your support for our brother. We will go to the people in every town and village to seek their support,” Haro said.
“We will also reach out to other aspirants contesting the same seat to collaborate with them and seek their support. Even the current member, Hon. Aminu Jamo, did his best. We know how politics is — nobody can do 100 percent.”
Yusuf was accompanied by a former member of the constituency, Fatuhu Muhammad, and other family members.
The seat is currently held by Rep. Aminu Jamo.
