The Conference Choir President, Mr. Ezra Ranti, made the call at the 40th Choral Convention held at the UMC Campground Apawa along Jalingo-Zing Road.
“Let there be no segregation among believers. Let’s join hands together with our sister conferences to move the United Methodist Church UMC forward through the Unity Choir of UMC, as we always come together and organize conventions annually to foster our unity.”
He urged other denominations to partner with the UMC in the spirit of evangelism.
“Your presence will encourage us more as we strive to achieve the Gospel’s goal.”
He expressed his appreciation to God and the Choristers for granting him another opportunity to serve for another four years and promised to be loyal and dedicated to serving the Lord through Choir Ministry.
“Beloved in Christ, the Conference Choir annual Convention is an activity we use to gather, sing, worship, and glorify God through song presentations. The songs competition is to widen our knowledge of music. I therefore urge you to take the results of the competition in good faith, as we all know that we are not here purely because of positions. Remember our motto is ‘Evangelism through Music.’ Let us therefore sing to win souls and glorify God through our singing.”
He appreciated the Director of Connectional Ministries, Rev. Philip Micah Dopah, for bringing innovations that would encourage Choristers and leave a legacy for the next leadership.
“I want to challenge our dear Choristers to emulate other singing groups like Gospel Singers and Women, who have gone far in executing various projects.”
He used the forum to inform the Choristers of the passing of members during the period under review.
“It is with sadness that I inform you that we lost Choristers in almost all the districts based on the statistics received from the various districts. Notably, among them is the District Chairman of Appawa District, Mr. Musa Yazeng, who passed away along with others within the Conference,” he said.
A minute of silence was observed in respect for the departed Choristers.
